Joey was born just about 4 weeks early, and changed our lives forever! Though our home was no where ready for her arrival (due to remodeling) we were just so happy for a healthy baby girl! I knew I wanted to breast feed as soon as I found out I was pregnant and I couldn’t wait for the bonding experience! But due to Joey being premature it was hard for her to latch and we had struggled with it for the first few days after going home. We noticed her jaundice was getting worse and made a doc appointment to find out her levels were through the roof and she was dehydrated. Long story short, after a week in the hospital to get all her levels in check, I am now pumping and bottle feeding! I love bottle feeding her just as much and I believe we still have that strong bond I was looking for! At first I thought I had failed her by her not getting enough milk from me those first few days, but it happens! She was tongue tied and too weak, so pumping and bottle feeding made me feel 1000% percent better knowing exactly how much she is getting! She’s now 10 weeks and growing like a weed!
