Question

I know I’m about to sound ignorant or unknowlegable, but i figure you ladies are smart and helpful. My husband and I just started trying again but are working harder and harder at tracking and logging everything. Today is the last day of my fertile window and I ovulated the 16th. The last day of my period was the 7th. When should I try to test? How do I gauge the weeks and days like when I see “4+3 weeks DPO” or whatever? I don’t know what any of these abbreviations mean and I don’t know what weeks/days to try and test. I’ve seen so many people get their positives because they’re avidly using the app to track and help. Does anyone please any info they can share with me? Thank you!!!

Test July 31. That's when you're period is most likely due. The average luteal (post-ovulatory) phase is 14 days. If you do end up pregnant, your due date would be 40 weeks after the first day of your last period. Since you know exactly when you ovulated, your due date would be 38 weeks from the day you ovulated. If you do test on the 31st, you would be 4 weeks along, since the general rule or whatever is the first 2 "weeks" of your pregnancy is before conception. If you are pregnant, your OB still might tell you your due date is 40 weeks from your last period until you get your appointment with them, just an FYI. Most people don't track ovulation, so they always go off your last period until you get a dating scan, if you get one.
