Anyone taken sleeping pills during pregnancy ?

My husband is leaving me for another woman. I’m 17 wks pregnant. I can’t sleep. Im so tired but i can’t sleep. I’ll go see my doctor today. Pls help if you have any words of advice

I wouldn’t, insomnia is something most pregnant women deal with at one point or another in their pregnancy regardless of personal situation. What helps me is if I don’t fall asleep within one hour I get up and do something else for 15 mins - 1 hour and then try going to sleep again. Also keeping the room cold or having a fan on helps.

insomnia is pretty normal to experience during pregnancy. that being said, your OB should have a suggestion for you if you feel like you need medication :)

I would definitely speak to your doctor about safe sleep aides you can take during your pregnancy. You also might wanna look into meditation. It sounds kinda dumb, but meditation has really helped me in the past in times of stress and to help me feel more balanced and in control of my emotions. I’m sorry you’re going through this and I hope you’re feeling better soon!! 💗

I take melatonin for migraines brought on by poor sleep. When I was TTC my doctor looked it up specifically. It's not something they have done a lot of studies on (as it's just not ethically proper to do studies on pregnant women), but the sleep specialist professor that my doctor asked said it was completely okay to use in pregnancy.
Where I am (UK) melatonin is prescription only. But I know in other countries you can get it over the counter.
It's something to try at least.
However, what is really going to help you is to see a therapist to help you sort through all these worries and thoughts that keep you awake. I truly believe that will help you very much. 
I know I have had huge benefit from therapy during times where I was worrying too much and just kept myself awake with thoughts going around in circles.
Any medicine will only be a short term fix, unless you tackle the bigger issue in therapy.
