Tried to be a good big sis... ended up causing my lil sis to cry

*RANT WARNING*

I Am Livid! My younger sister is a busy mom of 2 wonderful little girls and right now their daddy is stationed in Poland. On top of work and caring for these two she’s also gotta deal with crazy day to day up keep of house and cars. Normally her hubby is a real DIY when it comes to car maintenance, she’s not all that car savvy. Well her headlight bulb went out so rather than calling him she called me. I work for a car dealership in parts, so i walk her through taking out the bulb via skype( she was super proud of herself) and tell her to go to the auto parts store tell them what make model and year her car is and tell them you need a head light bulb. I told her to also take the old bulb with her to make sure it is the right one.

Next day she calls me in tears! Apparently she did almost exactly what i said, she walked in bulb in hand told them what her car was and asked for a headlight. The douche canoe behind the counter decided to then berate my sister over the fact that what she had was a bulb and not a headlight. Condescendingly inferring that perhaps her husband should come back because he’d know what she needed. WTF?! She ended up leaving quickly and went to their competitor. At this point I wanted Names and the stores location because i was about to rain down a firestorm of biblical proportions.

Setting aside the super rude and shitty customer service, what kind of business allows a sexist POS to be the face of their company! I have to put up with this crap a lot from customers and some co-workers. Back handed compliments (you know a lot about cars... for a girl), constant questioning if I’m sure i know what I’m doing, asking to speak to a man, etc. This is the kind of BS that turns women and girls off from wanting to learn about how cars work! I encourage everybody to learn basic maintenance and care for your automobile. Don’t let anybody tell you you cant just because of you gender! Rant over.
