Meth heads “elaborate” plan

So. A little background, I’ll try to make this short and sweet.

I work at the front desk of a locally owned cabin rental company in a small town. A few days ago, I received a call that went as follows:

“How can I help you today”

“I need to speak with someone in charge”

“Okay, our general manager is not in right now, but I can let you leave a voicemail for her if you would like”

Here’s where it gets weird.

“No, you can just tell her that the new girl they hired for housekeeping is having somebody in a blue truck drive up there when she’s cleaning cabins to sell meth to her and if I was that lady that owned that and I had all that money, I would wanna know that was going on and you all need to check your cameras”

She had much more to say, but for the sake of keeping it short, that’s the gist.

So basically, I tried to find out how this lady came across this information. I told her that was a big accusation, and it would really help us get to the bottom of it if we knew where she heard this. I have never seen a blue truck and all the cars pass my window when they pull into the property.

I asked her if she was a guest staying in our cabins, she said “no I never stayed there”

I said “do you work here?” She said no.

I asked “If someone that works here told you that, could you give us their name to follow up?” She said no, and then she said “you wouldn’t know her”

Like.. what??

So I told my general manager when she came in, she made a few phone calls and the next day I find out the accused girl has been fired but for other reasons. Hmm. 🤔

So that was what I thought the end of that, but the same lady calls me back today. She tells me her grand daughter recently applied for a housekeeping position and said “when are y’all gonna hire her” which, first of all, that’s not how it works.

So I politely told her “I’ll have to transfer your call to our general manager, she takes care of the hiring process.”

She calls back, says my general manager hung up on her, and she didn’t know why. I said it may have been an accident and could transfer her back over if she wanted. (It was not an accident, my general manager recognized who she was, said “we’re not interested thank you” then hung up, but I didn’t know that at the time.)

She said no. And then I put two and two together after this. She went on the same soap box about how we had meth heads working here, and she was trying to help clean the place up by letting us know what was going on, and assured us her granddaughter wasn’t on meth and she drove her granddaughter up to our property twice and she needs to be hired (I know the girl, yes she is definitely and noticeably on meth) so I just let her get angry, not saying a word, until she tired herself out and hung up on me.

This lady called to slander a girl that works here who is not doing drugs, on the slight chance that we might hire her granddaughter to fill her place.

Are. You. Kidding. Me.

My GM told me that both the grandmother and granddaughter are on drugs, and the granddaughters boyfriend also works for us, but is clean and told my general manager not to hire her.

These people were expecting hand outs, thinking that no one would catch on to what they were trying to do. it’s NOT the way to go. It was frustrating, but entertaining to say the least.
