To shop or not to shop?

I have been repeatedly told to not shop until after my baby shower bc I will end up w duplicates and it’s driving me crazy just sitting around when I could be getting stuff for my baby. 
How many of you actually got multiples of an item at your baby shower that you weren’t able to return?

My registry was on amazon, so I was able to see what items were purchased and could purchase off of the registry as well (which would mark the item as bought to others viewing the registry). I only ended up with one duplicate item- and ergobaby carrier

It’s fine to shop! Just don’t get things that you have on your registry. We got all of our nursery furniture, onesies, some neutral clothes (we were team green!), bath stuff, toys, and the travel system. We didn’t go crazy, but I’m glad we got what we did when we did because I wasn’t much up for shopping after my shower.

I didnt get anythibg of my registry and 90% waa without gift receipts so we donated almost everything we got. I would highly recommend against waiting until your shower.

I always shopped at least a little bit ahead of time. I made sure I didn’t buy anything I had put on my registry but I bought diapers, clothes, nursery furniture, all of the bottles, soothers, etc. I don’t think I got too many duplicates. Some people brought different types of soothers and bottles to the baby shower. I also had a couple people at the shower get the same outfits but usually they were in different sizes so it worked out anyway. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I buy things all the time, we started before we ever got pregnant. We buy the things we know we want and if we get doubles we’ll just roll with it. We’re saving large purchases for after our shower

buy stuff for ur enjoyment! a lot of people
will include gift receipts so if it’s something you don’t want two of, u can switch it out

I’ve bought tons of clothes already and if I get duplicates at the shower I’ll just keep them and she can wear both. And then next year we’ll be having a yard sale and selling all the clothes she’s outgrown. I’m not worried at all about getting duplicates. 😊
