Gender disappointment?

What do you do?  I have a 3 year old daughter, 1 year old son, and just found out baby #3 is a boy.  I had really wanted a girl.  I know it doesn’t make me a bad mom or anything like that, but what do you do about the disappointment part?  I’m glad it’s a healthy baby and I will obviously love him no matter what and it will be great for my son to have a close in age brother.  But I come from 4 girls and I’m really mourning that my daughter won’t have a sister.  I’m 36, so while I have time to have another, there’s obviously no guarantees that one would be a girl either.  Anyone have any genius ideas for me to not feel crappy about this?  TIA

I get that you had a certain gender you had in mind, BUT I have a hard time relating to you... you already have both genders which you are super blessed because some women only have only boys or only girls and they’ll never know what it will be like to have both. I’m not in anyway trying to be mean, but you really are BLESSED. Instead of your daughter having a play mate your son will which is awesome. Or who knows your kids might surprise you and they all will play together.

I’m expecting boy #3. I wanted a girl, and this is our last. So to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was honestly devastated. I cried about it, and was really unhappy for a while. Of course I was so grateful that baby was healthy and that I could even have a baby, but the disappointment mixed with guilt ate at me. It eventually passed and I’m 29 weeks and finally starting to get super excited about things. Just give it some time, and allow yourself to be upset for a bit. Talk about it with someone you trust, and try to remember how fun boys are!

I’m expecting boy #4 and wanted to have a girl sooo bad especially this would be my last baby. So your in a better shoe than me. 🤷🏽‍♀️. As advice we all know that everything will change once you see that baby.

I say this with care, get over it. It affected my ability to bond with my baby girl. Suck it up and appreciate your baby boy. I suffered until after a month with severe gender disappointment on top of her being so small at birth. I had ppd the first month and a half and the gender disappointment contributed to it. Please just move on and be happy. If someone would have told me these words I would of listened. It was tough for me because she was a horrible pregnancy compared to my son. Anyways, I hope you resolve your feelings quickly. ❤

Seriously. You are lucky to have one of each. I wanted a boy for my first and then my second. Apparently, I got a girl for my first and now I’m pregnant with my second and it’s another girl. There are so many people who are blessed with one of each. I wake up disappointed every day of the week.

I cried for 2 days straight then I went shopping for baby and all the super cute stuff I found helped me get over the fact the gender wasn't the one I wanted. It's ok to be upset for a while we all have certain visions for what we want and some times life throws us a curve ball and you just have to learn to go with it even if it takes a minute to adjust to the new course.

I actually get where you are coming from,. I'm the oldest of 5, and my three sisters and I were always close! But, on the other hand, my husband has one sister and one brother, and the relationship between them is extremely close! I think that it can be a special bond either way.

I get that feeling. I’ve always wanted girls but have had boys. In fact at my first ultrasound, when my obgyn told me it’s a boy, i didn’t even know how to react other than saying a soft “oh...” 
BUT, 2 boys later, I love them more than anything and I can’t imagine having girls. So I’m sure the “mum” part will take over once the baby is actually in your arms and the disappointment you feel now will be a distant memory 😊

I hope for my daughter to have a sister too but I have a feeling my last will be a boy which means 2 boys and a girl for me. I have two sisters and the bond is amazing. I’d love to have four just for the chance at another girl. Nice thing is you’ll have such a close bond with your daughter. Lots of mommy and me stuff too. That’s what I try to tell myself.
