Is the NuvaRing effective on the first day of RE-insertion?

I’ve been on the NuvaRing for about 5 months now, and putting it in at the same time on the same day after 3 weeks and then my off week. 
What I’m wondering is, are you protected on the first day of reinsertion AFTER your off week?

This ring scares the shit out of me, I have gotten pregnant on 3 different kinds of birth control including IUDs (my daughter was conceived while I was in the shot, I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks with the Mirena and had a confirmed chemical pregnancy a little over a month ago with ParaGard) so the thought of taking mine out for a week and just trusting it to work again is really nerve-wracking. I hate hormonal BC but IUDs don’t sit well in my uterus so we decided to try the ring, this is my first month on it. Today is actually the day that I’m supposed to take it out for a week to have my period, but I’m really thinking of just leaving it in for another week, skipping my period, and putting the new one in next Thursday with no gap...
