What do you do with your kids when you go into labor?

What do you do with your kids when you go into labor (especially in the middle of the night)? Our closest family member lives 3+ hours away so I wonder what people in the same situation do when expecting the arrival of their next baby.

I drove my kids to school while in active labour 😂 somebody had to do it lol then drove to the hospital very slowly 😂

You could take them with you to the hospital till you get a hold of the family member that lives a bit a way.

My mother in law is literally our neighbor so I just called her when I went into labor with my youngest

My 10 year old was in the room while I was in labor and delivered. (She wanted to be there) I'm so happy I got to share that time with her. If she would have been younger I would have taken her with me until someone else could come get her. A nurse said if my daughter got uncomfortable or freaked she could have came and sat with them until I delivered.

We took ours to the hospital with us. It wasn’t the plan because my family is only 40 minutes away but baby was in a hurry. My family got to the hospital 12 minutes before baby arrived and someone sat with our 2yo. He was fine, the nurses chatted with him and I think they were prepared to take him out for pushing if we wanted them to. In your situation I’d probably have a couple sitters on standby so if one isn’t available another will be.

Fortunately, our families are around. My will be coming weeks prior.. We gave 2 already and another due.

If you trust your neighbors I’d ask one of them to be “on-call” for you.  Not kids but that’s what we did for our dog since our little lady came 2 days before our scheduled C section and we needed someone to help.  Obviously with your other children you’d want a more solid plan in place though
