A month late, but here it is...
I finally got to meet my beautiful daughter at 39 weeks and 2 days. This was my Fourth baby. Around 3 a.m. I woke up having some contractions. It was enough to keep me from getting comfortable in bed or on the floor, but was nothing that I didn't think a shower would help so needless to say after about an hour of wiggling and trying to get back to sleep, I hop in the shower after accidentally waking the SO up. He stayed in bed and put our son back to sleep while I spent about 45 minutes in the shower, and decided it was time to call the Dr. Contractions were only about 5 minutes apart and weren't slowing down. They had become strong enough to stop me with what I was doing.
While I called the Dr, hubby tried to get his sister over to watch the kids. He couldn't get ahold of her and by this time it was almost 5 a.m. The Dr told me to wait an hour and then call back even though I was struggling a bit through the contractions and had 11 in one hour. About 15 minutes later, the contractions were roughly a minute apart and lasting 1-2 minutes. My husband ran next door to see if his sister was up. Luckily she was in her living room working and saw him peeking in the window. Hubby came back not even 5 minutes later. I could not get up on my own or move really.
His sister came upstairs and asked what she could do. My only response was that I'm not going to make it to the hospital. The Dr told us to go ahead and come in, but there was no way I could get off the floor, let alone down our stairs! Sister called an ambulance for me with it being the only possible option. As she was doing that, my youngest (turning 2 the next day) came walking into my bathroom to see all unfolding. Thankfully my sister in law is a RN. She took my son next door to her husband and grabbed gloves and things in case she was going to deliver her niece. The dispatch lady on the phone was driving me nuts telling me I needed to lay back blah blah blah. She asked my husband 8 times in less than 3 minutes if he could see the baby crowning. He had my sister check to see. Right as she got down to check, my water popped and burst all over her. 🤦
Ten minutes later, the medics come walking in my house. An officer had already arrived about 5 minutes before and let himself in as he heard me screaming through contractions. (I have bad anxiety and panic attacks that were triggered by my kids seeing me in such agony and me being stuck in the floor)The officer told us he just entered and didn't think we would shoot him since he could he me from outside the door. 😂
Three medics and a fireman are there to load me up and cart me off, but as they walked, my daughter's head was almost halfway out so instead, they lay down pads and get ready for a baby!! I had my baby girl on the floor of my walk in closet at 6:16 a.m. June 24th. Everything luckily went smooth although this was not my plan at all. She was born in 2 pushes. Labor was only about 3 and a half to 4 hours.
We got to the hospital room at 7:05 and the nurses started getting info from the medics and cleaning up my little girl. They got her weighed and all. Karlaina Michelle weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz. She was 20 inches long with a head that measured 14 and a half inches. She has already proven that it's her way or the highway!! We are now blessed with 4 amazing children ages 4, 3, 2(turned two June 25th), and now a 1 month old.
