What would you do.

I took a job recently and I start the beginning of August. I just put my two weeks in at my current job ( first time leaving this job in 3 years ok, it’s scary! )

I got a job opportunity by an ASM of a bank yesterday and she is going to try to get me in with her because they make $3 more an hour than the job I just got.

If I get this job, would it be professional to call the job that hired me a couple days ago and explain I got a better job offer I can’t let go?

One pays $12 and one pays $15 an hour plus mileage checks..

And I really need the $15 an hour that would be amazing.

Has anyone been in his situation??

Confirm with a new job - then call the one that you’ve been hired before that. It’s okay and I would consider it professional.

I’ve been on the other end of it- we hired someone recently and notified all of our other unsuccessful candidates, only for her to call two days before she was set to begin to explain that she wouldn’t be taking the job. And it ultimately put us in an extremely uncomfortable position of either having to call someone we had previously turned down to offer them a job, or holding interviews all over again and therefore delaying the hiring process for another few weeks. It sucks, but at the end of the day, you need to do what you think is best for you. If you explain it to them in a way that focuses not so much on the pay rate, but on having found a job that is better suited to your needs or experience, or future goals, then I’m sure they’ll be understanding. Just try to notify them as early as possible, so they can contact other potential candidates if need be.

I wouldn’t call my new employer until I actually filled out new hire work papers for the better paying job. You don’t want to lose out on a new job for a better paying one and then not actually get it. Yes it sucks for the other company but it happens. Plus I’m sure they won’t have a problem finding someone else considering they probably had other applicants the time they interviewed you as well.
