my mom doesn’t know how to explain herself properly. When she said “ you should never leave baby alone to go out “ she meant I shouldn’t leave her with my daughters dad. My baby is 4 months old and last night I went out with my friend for some Starbucks for two hours. I left her with her dad and my mom flipped when I told her this. That was her reply.

Is there a reason the child cannot be left alone with the father? If not, I don’t see an issue as long as the child is being cared for. Parents need time for themselves too.

Her father is just as much her parent as you are. Unless there's a reason why he would not be able to care for his child (and since you left her with him I would assume there's no such reason), your mom is just being unreasonable and offensive to your child's father (even if she doesn't mean it that way).

Why the heck can baby not stay with baby's father? 🤔 My husband is just as important and responsible for our children as I am. There's no reason you cannot go out just because you're a mother.

She’d really be appalled that last year I went out and left my 6 month old at home with her dad (my husband) to go out for my best friend’s 30th birthday....and drank beer. Lots of beer. I was gone for hours. The horror. Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you can’t ever go do anything ever again, shame on her for making you feel that way! My husband and I both encourage each other to see our friends occasionally, even if that means one of us stays home with the babe. It’s good for the soul to step out sometimes!

As long as daddy is able to care for the baby and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be around he baby alone, you did nothing wrong. Everyone deserves some time to decompress. Just because you went to get coffee with your friend doesn’t mean that you are a bad mom or that you don’t love your daughter. This was ridiculous to say 🙈

I’ve left my daughter alone with my boyfriend plenty of times. He is her father after all, he is capable of looking after her. Your mom is just being ridiculous.
