Lottie as a nickname for Violet?

My husband brought up the nickname Lottie for our little girl. Ive never heard of it being used for Violet before but he says that one of his co-workers grandmother's name was Violet and they called her Lottie. Ive heard of Vi(Vye) or V as a nickname and even one "Lettie" (though her full name was Violetta) but never Lottie. I like the name but I'm not sure it makes sense? He's also brought up using her middle name as a nickname. Her middle name is Fae which I love to pieces, but I'm not sure why he wouldn't have let Fae be her first name if he wants to call her that all the sudden now that she's here. He loves the name Violet, it was actually his suggestion, so I'm not sure why he'd name her Violet only to call her by the middle name I chose. 🤷‍♀️
