Too Perfect for this World...
I woke up around noon on October 2nd to think it was going to be a normal day. I had been having vaginal spotting for the past week (OB wasn't concerned) so seeing a little bit of blood when using the restroom didn't startle me as much now. But after doing the usual waking wee, I noticed the blood had gotten brighter in color and there was more quantity. I didn't think much of it seeming that I wasn't cramping or in any kind of pain.
My day was pretty normal. The only concern I had was the blood when I used the restroom. But all seemed well.
I continued my normal day drinking lots of fluids and on bed rest (doctors orders). Later that night, 9 o'clock to be exact, I was reading a book while laying in bed and started to feel cramping in my lower abdomen. Thinking it was Braxton hicks, I shook it off until something told me to go to the bathroom. It was 10 o'clock until I finally went and after wiping, I saw what looked like small clots. I panicked.
I immediately called for my husband that was in the other room. After him seeing what I saw too, we both quickly rushed to the E.R.
We didn't have to wait long. Myself in panic mode, we were seen almost immediately by what I thought was a "doctor". The hospital that I went to, you have to be 20 weeks pregnant before they will send you to L&D straight away. So we were sent to an emergency triage room due to me being only 16 weeks.
I told the "doctor" that I was almost 99% sure something was wrong and that I was in labor. His advice? Go home and rest and take Tylenol because there's nothing he can do. I refused to leave without someone checking my baby's heart rate. A nurse came in with a Doppler. Usually the baby's heart beat could be found immediately. It took the nurse 5 minutes of searching before a 150bpm showed up for only a split second. I KNEW then something was wrong but I was still sent home.
It was now 12:20 in the morning on October 3rd. On the ride home, my water broke. My husband and I immediately turned around to go BACK to hospital. My husband furious, went in and told the receptionist that we refuse to wait in the lobby or a triage room because my water had broke and I was now in full labor.
I was scurried back to L&D. The OBGYN came in to do a pelvic exam and told me that she felt a foot... and that I would be delivering my baby in the next few hours. A ultrasound was requested by OB because of her worries that were eventually confirmed. Baby was breech and had already passed.
Going through so many hard contractions, my angle baby was born 5:27a.m. on October 3rd, 2015 at 16 weeks. Our beautiful baby would have been a little boy.
It's now 2:31a.m. on October 4th and I can't sleep a wink just thinking about what my baby is doing in Heaven right now. My baby Ethan will be severely missed and will always hold a special place in his mommy's heart.
Please keep my husband and I in your prayers as we go through our journey of such a devastating loss.
