Unplanned home birth - Eva

Sanne • Pregnant with baby 2, living in the Netherlands. I believe in love and rock&roll ❤️🎸
Scary as the above may sound, it was the most amazing birth.
We planned to have our delivery at the birthcenter in our hospital.
I started to have some mild contractions on Thursday early morning (38+4) but didn't think to much of it, since was having BH on a regular basis the weeks before. My sister was visiting that day and i felt tired so i took good 3 hour nap and didn't feel any different.
At 4 PM contractions came back, not too strong but regular every 3 minutes.
The midwife came to check me at 5 PM, i was 1 cm and 3/4 effaced. Labor had started!
I prepared for a long night ahead, as i was hoping to give birth by the next morning.
But things started to speed up quickly, and around 8 PM my water broke. I was 3 cm at that point.
Midwife agreed to come back around 10 PM to check my progression and we would probably go to the birthcenter ar that point to labor through the night.
Between 8PM and 9PM the contractions got really strong. I was amazed by the force, not so much the pain (wich was at about an 8 out of 10). I really focused on them and used my breathing to get through. It's amazing how your body makes all these crazy hormones, was honestly feeling high (including stupid smile on my face) in between them.
At 9PM something changed, a massive pressure below I couldn't control. So we decided to call the midwife just in case. She arrived at 9.20 and when she couldn't find the heartbeat in my stomach I knew (and could tell by her face) baby was on her way out!
My husband quickly got an airmattress, cause I couldn't walk the stairs anymore and the midwife got her birthing gear.
I just let the contractions take over my body, and could feel her moving down more while lying on the couch.
I went to lay down on the airmattress at 9.45 PM and started to actively push. 11 minutes and 3 pushes later my beautiful daughter was put on my stomach ❤️
Eva was just over 3 kg, and just perfect. I only had 1 tiny labia tear (2 stitches).
We all high fived and the midwife said this was the first baby she delivered on an aerobed!
I'm so happy, and i just want to tell all mommies to not be scared during labor. Trust your bodies, and the people supporting you. Whether you deliver at home or in a hospital you will do great!!
