I’m a FTM going to cloth diaper and plan to use Alva baby. How many diapers will I need? I plan to wash every other day.

I wash every other day and have about 34 diapers. Now that my baby is three months (second baby) I can sometimes stretch two days out of them, but newborns poop and pee so much you’ll definitely need a lot.

As a first time mom, I feel like I went overboard buying diapers because I wanted to make sure I had enough (& the prints are so cute!) so I bought a little over 40 diapers and around 50 inserts. We also recently started pad folding flour sack towels in our diapers since my son (6 months old) is a heavy wetter. That being said, I can go almost a week without washing if I need to, but I usually wash every 2-3 days so it’s not one large load and it keeps them from getting as smelly. Being a full time working mom, I wanted to make sure I had enough to space out washes if I needed to, and so far we have had no problems. If you wanted to wash more often, you could probably get by with closer to 20-25 diapers. We have mainly Alva brand and a few Mama Koala.

I had my son in cloth from a 3 days old. He’s still in the newborn size and he’s 11 weeks. I have about 20 and I do a wash most evenings. He will go into the one size when he’s about 6 months and I have about 20 of those too x
