Pacifier use?

FTM and couldn't find a decent answer online... when do babies start using a pacifier!? I'm seeing all sorts of advice such as right away to one month and some discussing using it at night!?
Hoping to get some seasoned moms answering:)

I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t need it lol I regret giving my daughter one. My daughter has had one since she was born and now almost a year old I want it gone but it’s gonna be so hard as she basically depends on it.

They say not to do breastfed babies for af least
 4 weeks due to nipple confusion. Formula fed babies is whenever. I did give my 3 week old one and haven't had any issue with nipple confusion although she didnt like it at first and I had to get one that matched the bottle we would use when my husband would feed her pumped breastmilk.

I waited 6wks to establish breastfeeding with all of mine. None of them took it. My first sucked his thumb til Kindergarten, my second sucks her 2 fingers at 4yrs old and my 3rd started using a dummy at 15mo when I had to go back to work and couldn’t be his paci anymore 😬😂😢 yup I’m the moron mom who gave him the dummy at Over a year old and now have to get rid of it bc he’s nearly 2 🙋🏽‍♀️ oh well. I sleep damn good. No seriously. You do what you have to do to get sleep. He was a nursing fiend and t was the only way I could get him off my body at night. I had to support my family bc my husband was (is) in full time nursing school. But I reeeeeealllllly believe in holding off to establish good nursing if you can. Because it can cause nipple confusion and that’s when you get into weight loss and worries about baby getting enough. It’s when you see supply drops and engorgment and mastitis and a multitude of other issues. Just put them to breast every time they cry for the first 6 wks or when you’ve got a good routine. You got this momma. ❤️

I have had 3 kids so far. Going on 4😊 and none of them cared to ever have one. Wich is fine by me cause I didnt have to go through the hard ship and heartache of taking it away later

I have 3 older sons and we never gave them a pacifier. It helped milk production and bonding to put them to breast whenever they needed to suck, and we never had to worry about taking away a binky they had become attached to. Plus we didn't have to constantly pick it up and sanitize it after it was dropped. We don't plan to use one for our son due in November either.

My first born hated them. My second and third got bored with them by 4 months so we tossed them. They are great for the cluster feeding time cause it gives your nipples a break and they still get the comfort.

Personal preference really! Pacifiers reduce the risk of sids so most hospitals will try to give a pacifier right away. For breastfeeding, they recommend to wait until the breastfeeding relationship is established before introducing a pacifier. 
My first wouldn’t take one at all, even at the hospital. So she just never used one. We plan on being more active with it and trying to get this baby to take one.

My first was given one in the hospital, which I thought was fine since I thought we were off to a good start, but I ended up supplementing and then he totally quit breastfeeding at 4 months. Not sure if it actually had anything to do with it or not. Probably not, he just liked eating quickly and moving on with his life. He also quit using his pacifier around 4 or 5 months, and took an entire week to find his thumb. My second refused it, only tried it a few times more as a toy. I liked the idea of decreased sids risk, but she had other ideas.
