IVF: What to Expect?

Question

I'm having my tubes removed next month due to blockage and then we'll start IVF. How soon do doctors typically let you start IVF after surgery? Anything I should know that the paperwork might've left out regarding IVF?

Hi Tiffany, I had surgery this past Wednesday to remove my right tube which was blocked and swollen. During all the tests leading up to the surgery, we were unable to locate/see my left tube. During surgery to remove the right one, my Dr found out that my left tube was never attached to my uterus in the first place-I was just born that way. Anyways, my Dr is letting me heal for 30 days, and the plan is to start IVF meds in October. We haven't gone through all the paperwork yet so I don't have any insight on that to share. I had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove both tubes.  My doctor said we could start the IVF treatment after my period in August (first week.)

The surgery was relatively not painful- the only thing I can complain about is the nausea after the procedure.  I wasn't released for 3 hours, despite the normal 45 min recovery.  The anesthesia did not agree with my stomach.

I just found your posts. I had tubes removed because of ectopic pregnancies :( I'm 3weeks from my last surgery ...thinking about IVF. Did you get it done? Advice? Thanks:)

Hi Tiffany, have you had a second opinion on your tubes? On FS was going to take mine of due to blockage and toxic fluid but luckily I changed clinics and now I don't need to have them removed to proceed with IVF. If I get to two or three failed attempts she said she might consider.
