Pros and cons membrane sweep??

Question

I go in for my 40 week appointment tomorrow morning . I will be 40 weeks + 4 and I’m thinking about asking my Dr to sweep my membranes. What is everyone opinion on doing it. I’m going to be a Ftm and I just want to no is it worth it in your ladies experience? thanks in advance! ☺️❤️

I got one at 38 weeks and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever for me... worst part was expecting results sooner and for my water to break at exactly 40 weeks, my baby boy will be 2weeks on Thursday but I don’t think the sweep helped me in any way...
But you’ll never know until you try it, it might work for you and you go into labor an hour after the sweep.

I had mine done at my 39 week apt. Couple minutes later my water broke😂 was convenient already being at the hospital. My doctor just looked at me and said "Well, let's go upstairs and have a baby!" Was SO happy I brought my overnight bag just incase. So keep that in mind!

I had mine done towards the middle/end of my 39 weeks. Didnt hurt at all for me, just uncomfortable. Felt just like a cervical check only a teensy bit longer... 
Mine did work but not til after 72 hours. I had stronger contractions on and off the first 2 days, then nothing the third. But early the next morning I went into full blown labor with contractions 3 min apart after an hour of them starting. 
I'd say definitely worth the try! And dont give up hope if nothing happens right away! 🤗

From what I know it's perfectly safe to do, but it won't necessarily induce labor unless baby's ready. I got it done and it wasn't bad, but it didn't do anything for me. Took like 30 seconds, though, so it doesn't hurt to try!

No real cons other the some people say they're rather uncomfortable... I had my second one today and neither hurt for me. It might be the nudge that your little one needs but doesn't guarantee that you'll go into labor. Definitely worth a try though 💙

That hurt like a mf’er but I went from 2 to 3 immediately after having it done!

Worked for me! I totally think it was worth it. It wasn’t painful for me but your a ftm so it might be. I would just take a Tylenol 30 minutes before just in case.
