My waterbirth story 💙
So I had my beautiful baby girl yesterday and I could not be happier. It was the most difficult, emotional, and beautiful day of my entire life. Here is our story...
I started getting mild contractions at 11pm the night before which got stronger pretty quickly. I called my midwife and she told me I should labour at home for as long as possible. I ended up labouring there for almost 8 hours. I didnt realize it at the time but I was having back labour so the pain was pretty intense. At 6:30am my husband and I headed to the birthing centre where I found out I was already 8cm dilated. They started filling the birthing tub as soon as I got there there. My midwife arrived and laboured progressed pretty quickly. The tub was so wonderful to be in during contractions. I was able to drape my arms over the side and bounce through contractions, and let my body float in between. My husband was great at massaging my lower back during those prickly ones. After an hour my midwife had me go to the washroom where my water broke, that's when things really started progressing. She had me labour on the birthing chair for a bit, which was absolutely excruciating, but allowed me to progress from 8cm to 10cm in less than 30 minutes. That's when I went back into the tub to start pushing. That was probably the scariest part honestly, because the pain and burning is so intense but you know you just have to do it so that you will get to meet your baby and get past that pain. I also didnt realize that it literally feels like you are pooping your baby out of your butt when you're pushing 😂 I was pushing for maybe a half hour or less before they told me to reach down and pull up my baby. That was the single most beautiful moment of my entire life, seeing her gorgeous face and knowing all that hard work could not have been more worth it. It was also so exciting to find out what we were having since that was a surprise, and everyone had been guessing a boy through my pregnancy.
Lillian Grace was born at 1045AM July 30th, I could not be more proud or happy.
