Ella as nn for Gabriella?

I really like the name Gabriella but I hate the nickname Gabby or Gab... do you think Ella would work as a nickname for Gabriella or no? Any other suggestions welcome.

Just putting this out there... had a friend name her son “Samuel” with a strict “NEVER A SAMMY” guess what... he becomes school aged and develops the nick name Sammy, tells his mom he wants to be called Sammy. Lol. So you can say whatever you want but just know.... your kid can be dubbed a nick name you don’t want 😳

My friend calls her daughter Bree. She was adopted and my friend and her husband weren't too fond of calling her Gabby, so they call her Bree.

It’s funny cause I like the name Isabella but don’t like the nicknames Izzy or Bella do I had to scratch that name because kids and others use that when I mention that name :(.

I think it works but most people are going to assume the NN Gabby so you will have to be consistent correcting people to Ella and some people may automatically call her Gabs, Gabi, etc. I have a daughter named Gabriella... it’s a beautiful name 🙂
