Does anyone actually know what they're doing?

Question

I keep looking up advice on everything from sleep training to tummy time and almost no two sources at the same. Even the American Pediatrics and Duke Pediatrics have differences in how things should be done. Am I just horrible at this motherhood thing or does anyone really feel like they know what they're doing?

I tend to go with a mix of what the majority of science says (rather than anecdotal experiences) and what feels best for me and my baby. When in doubt, I read the studies myself! But yeah, we’re all winging it. No one is an expert on parenting 😂 you could read all the books in the world (I swear I did) but it’s always going to be different when it really happens with your own baby.

I like this poll 😂 there are nights my husband and I don’t know what to do and I ask him and he goes “I have no clue” and then he asks me what to do and I say the exact same. Lol

There’s no way to know it all... I voted yes by mistake, but like nobody just knows in their heart 100% what first food to introduce to their baby, or how to bring them up with them knowing they’re loved but without spoiling them. Or from day one, know how many pairs of socks to put on their kids. 
These are all things we have to learn as we go, because even if you watched a sibling grow up, or have always been around kids, each baby is different.
 
I gave my baby oat cereal for his first meal. After his first poo, I learned that I needed to add more water to his porridge because he doesn’t like to drink too much water after he eats.
I used to put on a pair of socks and leggings for him when winter started, but when I realized his feet were still cold, I added on another pair of socks. 
These are dumb examples, but that’s the point. We’re all born with our motherly instincts, but we still have to learn how to do things by experiencing it.

I work in a pediatricians office WITH my daughters pediatrician and I still google almost everything before or after asking about it 😂being a mom is for-sure just winging it majority of the time and the rest of the time relying off of personal experience, education, or experimenting with every piece of “advice” you receive from friends and family. and even then every baby is SO different things may or may not work for yours!

I’m not an idiot, so I just do what feels or sounds smart to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ sometimes I guess wrong, but my baby hasn’t been damaged by my choices and I can’t read his mind so I feel like I’m doing alright. I’m finally out of emotions with it.
