Clueless about weight loss

I’m currently only 20 years old, I’ll be 21 this month.

I’ve been overweight my entire life, a lot due to medications I’ve been on due to illnesses.

I want to lose weight as I’m at my heaviest I’ve ever been at around 250 lbs.

I’m so embarrassed about it and I rarely even like being in public because I feel so self conscious.

I want to lose weight, work out, eat right, etc.

but I don’t know where to start? Do I just do my research like I’ve been trying and go from there? Does anyone have any tips for me they could share?
