Do you have parents or in-laws who smoke?

If so, how do you manage visits at their home with your baby? Is baby allowed on furniture and floors? Do you hold them the whole time?

My dad smokes and my husband smokes. Neither smoke in the house though. So it's not really an issue.

I have a grandma who smokes in her home, we don’t allow our daughter over there unless it’s nice out and she can play outside. But we won’t allow her inside. If grandma wants to see her she’s more than welcome to come over to our house. As far as people who smoke holding my kids...when they’re infants I make the time they get held by a smoker short. I’ll come up with almost any excuse to take them away from a smoker lol. As they get older, I’m not worried about smokers holding them as much since they’re so active anyway.

Both of my parents vape and I make them wipe everything down before we come. Of course they aren’t allowed to vape in the house with the baby. And I won’t let her sleep over there because I’m afraid the chemicals will mess with her somehow. Call me over-paranoid I guess 🤷‍♀️

My fil used to smoke. I barely ever took him to there house even though he smoked outside you could still smell it in the house. I think it’s called 3rd hand smoke. When he would come over I didn’t allow him to smoke. Lol maybe I’m mean but ew.

It would depend if they skoke in the house or not, if I'm going to a house that has smokers and they smoke inside they will stop doing so if they know I'm coming as they dont want to smoke around baby and I don't want them to either, personally i think it's fine to have baby on the furniture as it's not much different from sitting on your lap, just speak to the persons house you are going to and ask them what they're planning to do whilst your there with baby, if they won't smoke outside meet them elsewhere

I limit visits to their house. They can come to mine. I told them that I didn’t watch my diet, cut out caffeine, and take vitamins that make me nauseous for 9 months for my child to inhale their toxins. When we are there my husband’s step father makes sure to not smoke in the house. But like you said, it’s in the carpet and on the furniture. Even in their clothes. And they are coming out with studies on third hand smoke which is the stuff that lingers in carpet and whatnot. You have to be comfortable and you have to keep your baby safe and healthy. If they are reasonable people they will understand.
