What are some things that you need to care for yourself after giving birth?

Adult diapers, Tucks pads, cloth pads (I was not going to use disposables for 6 weeks), ibuprofen, and a partner who lets you take long hot showers.

FTM here and so far I've bought tucks pads, adult diapers, super absorbent maxi pads, black underwear, perineal spray and balm, sitz bath and an over the toilet bowl to use the sitz (my husband gets our tub so dirty I don't want my healing lady bits sitting in it), nipple cream and the ice gel packs for your nipples. I plan on asking the hospital to give me a couple pairs of mesh panties along with an extra peribottle. Instead of buying the perineal ice packs I just plan on using diapers filled with ice, since you only use ice for the first couple of days. I plan on hitting up the thrift store for button up shirts and joggers to live in for the first little bit at home. That way I don't feel like I'm stuck in my pjs all day long.
