Am I right to be mad?

I am always paying for my boyfriend, tonight I bought up a 20 piece McNuggets and a medium pizza. I buy him food every time I see him. But we were at his house today and he was eating a long piece of nerds candy and I asked him for a little bit and he went on a tantrum about how he doesn’t want to share it with me and how he shouldn’t have to. Am I right to be upset?

You aren’t obligated to buy him food and feed him. He’s not obligated to share his food with you. You can stop buying him food anytime you see him because you aren’t obligated. It’s simple. If it upsets you, then stop buying him food. Just because you willingly buy him food doesn’t mean he has to willingly share with you. Some people don’t like share their food and it’s understandable.

I see this listed under Adult Relationships, but I feel like I’m getting ready to give advice to a Middle School kid in my class. That might be a bit blunt, but I think you need to communicate this to him and tell him exactly how you feel about always paying. And let him know that from your perspective the Nerd candy episode showed a real lack of maturity on his part, and as a result makes you feel upset and immature.
If you can’t be open and honest with him, and vice versa, then you need to break it off. Believe me, there are other guys who will treat you with the respect you deserve. And with this being a situation that is so small and petty, how are you both going to handle the big things that arise during your relationship. I think you need to re-evaluate and prioritize because from the way you worded this, it comes across that he’s immature, selfish, and essentially using you. You deserve better and don’t be afraid to demand that. It took me 35 years to figure that one out, so I’ve been in similar situations and in the end you feel like you’re being used. I met my Husband on Christmas Eve at the place I swore I’d never meet a guy- at church on the front row. I was with a good childhood friend who had begged me to come to the service because the concert was so amazing. I almost blew him off so I could take a nap. I’m so glad I didn’t. We talked for an hour after church was over, I have him my business card with my number on it (I’ve never ever done that before, or been that forward). He walked us out to our car and as soon as we pulled out my friend said, “You’re going to marry that guy.” I had that immediate response, but never would’ve admitted it. In fact, I had been casually seeing this guy, but it was just kinda blah and I felt like I was always paying for everything because he was so cheap. I had his Christmas gift already in my Jeep, so I dropped by unannounced and gave it to him, said I thought I had just met the one and ended it there. I’ve never once doubted that decision. My Husband treats me like a Queen and the way a woman should be treated. He’s an amazing Father to our 4 yo and is going to be incredible with our newest member arriving in Dec. Don’t waste your time with someone who isn’t as invested in you as you are in them. You’ll only end up resenting and hating him. You’re worth more than a 20-piece chicken nugget & pizza and definitely more than a Nerd Rope! So be you and find that strength that only women losses and find happiness. It’s out there. I promise! YOU ARE WORTH IT!

How old is he? You don’t have to buy him anything. You’re his girlfriend NOT wife. Honestly my husband has always shared with me and vice versa. It’s just common courtesy. If you don’t like the way he acts over something like this then you can always end it and find someone who can buy their own food and either share with you or tell you he would rather not share in a nice way. Some people don’t like to share food and that’s perfectly fine but it’s not ok to be an asshole about it

I don’t like to share my food, period. I’m just weird about it, I’ve always been like that. When my husband and I were dating, that was something he always knew about me haha. When he buys me ice cream he doesn’t expect me to share it because he knows I don’t like to 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe it’s because I have 9 younger siblings, or maybe it’s because I like to eat lol. I don’t think there is a direct correlation between buying someone food and sharing it. My husband doesn’t hold it against me when I don’t share my food that he bought for me, he never has and vice versa.

I guess it depends because I might buy a lot of the little shit and my boyfriend gets the big shit and I know for damn sure if I needed his help he would be there for me
Sometimes it seems like I'm always buying things but it really doesn't bother me because its not a competition i buy him things and vise versa because i love him and i don't mind... i don't expect a even tally at the end of the day
