New construction homes
Hey ladies! My husband and I are starting our home search. It’s our first time buying and we also have our first baby on the way. I’m only 2 months along, so not too far along, but far enough to where we can’t wait too too long to get into a home. We’re hoping by December at the very latest so I’m able to nest and set up the house and the baby’s room . (I’m due March 22 at this point).
My concern is...we’re looking at buying a brand new home since we want to have most of the newer amenities, like counters and flooring and cabinets, so we don’t have to do any remodeling and anything too crazy with a baby on the way. We figured that would be easiest to get what we want, and the new homes around us are very affordable. We found a great community and model/layout we really like, however we’re afraid of the quality of work/craftsmanship because of how fast they seem to get these homes built. And we all know the modeled sample homes are super well done and way more expensive, with every upgrade possible. We wouldn’t build from scratch because we don’t have 6-9 months to do that, but they have homes that are already predetermined and halfway through the building process, so it only takes 3-4 months.
Does anyone here have any experience with buying a new construction home? How was your experience? What problems did you come across, if any? Was the quality up to your expectations? Especially compared to the modeled sample home? We’re afraid we’re going into this blindly and the finished product will be bad quality.
