First baby, 4 hour labour!
After reading everyone else’s birth stories I decided to tell my own.
I on May 20th 2019 I was going in to hospital for a schedule induction as I was well overdue at 41 weeks 3 days. I was given two rounds of prostaglandin (gel inserted to ripen cervix) one in the morning and one at approximately 5pm. Contraction started pretty soon after this, at around 7pm I felt a pop and a small amount of fluid leak out but the midwives on didn’t think it was my waters (they were wrong) and by 8
pm I was having extremely strong contractions and ask to be checked as well as started on gas and air. At 8:20 pm I was officially in active labour being at 3cm and my waters had broken so I was moved to a delivery room. Fast forward 2 hours and I was officially 10cm at 10:20 pm and it was time to start pushing, I pushed for 2 hours and 10 minutes and then my beautiful baby girl arrived in to this world at 12:32 am Tuesday 21st May 2019 weighing 8lb 1oz and 20 inch’s long. I suffered a 2nd degree tear but only had gas and air for relief during the labour
