Cervix Check
I’m in my 8th week of pregnancy right now, but I’ve been researching and reading about how they check your cervix later on. I don’t know why, but I’m so afraid of getting this done. I hear it hurts really bad, and I’ve always been sensitive down there during pelvic exams. And then i hear about the doctor sticking like their entire hand up there. I dunno it just freaks me out. I’m a first time mom so I don’t know exactly what they do or how they do it.
Is it necessary for them to check your cervix and all that before you’re in active labor? From what I read, starting at like 36ish weeks, they check every week until you go into labor. But I hear stories about how during the exam they will purposely do a sweep without telling you, or the doctor will “accidentally” break your water...I just don’t want any unnecessary intervention before I’m actually in labor at the hospital. I hear it actually isn’t necessary until you’re in active labor.
