Finally writing my birth story!
I’ve decided to write about my daughters birth since I feel like now I’ve said it enough where I know how to write it 😂. Warning it’s a little long
For a week leading up to my due date I was having pain and been having to go into l&d to be monitored which they always said the same thing “that’s a happy baby” and then I was sent home, they kept telling me it was just how she was laying.
On my due date (April 22nd) I was having really really bad pains so we went to l&d and they told me to start getting ready because they think in the next couple days I will be back and having my baby.
I went home and took it easy for a few days pushing through the pain of her being in a weird position.
By April 24th I was tired and just ready to have my baby. I started walking and cleaning up my house, I was having contractions 7 mins apart at 3pm, I made an early dinner because I had a feeling my baby was coming. By 4pm my contractions started to be 5 mins apart and intense. We called my midwife and she said to get to the hospital as soon as I can.
We get to the hospital and I get into the triage where they had me STAND and wait for a bed to be monitored. They started to look at the contractions and see how dilated I am and they told me I need to get a room because I was 4cm. I got into my room and I thankfully got a room with a tub, I sat in the tub for what it felt like for hours.
I got out and sat on the bed where they tried 3 different times to put in a IV which made me almost pass out because I was having a panic attack. I got my epidural and they broke my water which got things going, I kept yelling about how gross I felt because it felt like I was constantly peeing all while a girl in the next room was pushing out a 9lbs baby for 2 hours! Listening to her scream scared me so much. We waited from 12am-3am for my epidural to work but it only worked on my right side so I felt all of the pain on my left side. I was laying on my right side talking with my boyfriend while he helped me through the contractions. At that point I was 5cm. All of a sudden I needed to push. No one was with us in the room, my midwife was assisting the girl in the next room with her birth. My boyfriend asked if he should get someone and I told him no because if this baby comes you gotta catch her.
At that moment my midwife came back in and my boyfriend yelled that I was pushing. My midwife calmly walked over and checked to see how dilated I was and she said “oh that’s a head!” And called some nurses in to help. I went from 5cm to 10cm within minutes! I pushed about 5 times and my daughter was born!
