so glad it’s finally my turn to post this!!!

Woke up Thursday morning (40+2) around 4am with contractions, my partner works night shift so

I rang him after an hours or so to be with me. I laboured at home til 10am and then decided it was too much so we went in, got admitted and laboured there. I’m genuinely so proud of how far I got without pain relief but by the 8th hour of labour I was fucking wailing so I got my epidural. I had a reaction which caused me to itch everywhere and the whole right side of my body went numb all the way to my neck which was spooky. They broke my water and we saw that lil miss had done a poopoo in there so we were on high alert.

After another 6ish hours of pain free labouring, I hadn’t dilated past 4cm and constant monitoring showed emilia wasn’t coping with labour well and was freaking out. They let me choose to either wait it out and start a labour inducing drug or just cut me open so we chose to just go for a c-section to avoid any emergency situation. It was the scariest yet most amazing thing I’ve ever been through and I’ve never seen my partner cry so much.

Emilia Elaine was born at 10:43 on 1st August and weighed 3.9kg (!!!) and apparently there was no way in hell she would of come out naturally bc how big she is and how small I am. She got stuck so they had to use forceps to get her out hence she has some bruising on her cheeks.

We were in the hospital for 6 nights as she dropped a little more than the 10% of her birth weight so we wanted to make sure she started putting weight on. She did and is maintaining it really well
