Yes to some degree. I don’t use it as a manipulator to get my child to do what I want her to do, but as a reminder that other people have physical and emotional feelings too. If she does something that makes me mad, or sad, or disappointed, I tell her. IMO, she needs to know that her actions affect others. I feel that expressing feelings is a crucial part of childhood development.

Yeah, this doesn't sound right to me. If my baby hits me or bites me I'll say "that hurts mama"... but if he's like fighting me over getting dressed I'm not going to hold "sadness" over his head as a form of emotional bribery to manipulate him into cooperating. That's not really teaching him anything, except maybe that he's responsible for regulating a grown ass women's emotions for her. 
Maybe say "you're making me feel frustrated"... not "you're going to make me cry". Not cooperating is an important part of their development. They're learning autonomy and independence, help them learn to be responsible with it.
What you're doing is weird af.
