Is this shitty of him..?
I recently was connected with the executive vice president of a huge public relations firm downtown Chicago and was invited to meet with them as a potential candidate for a job after I graduate.
I live in the Chicago suburbs, so I figured I’d take the train in. I invited my boyfriend to come with me. I will be meeting with them from 9:30-12, and I said I’d take him out for a nice lunch after and we could walk around downtown.
His response is, “Maybe.” And I’m like what..? And he’s like, “That’s a long time to just sit there and wait.”
Mind you, he has sat at home on his ass for the past 2 weeks, studying for firefighter entrance department exams. I told him to bring his books, we’d find him a coffee shop and he could study. I have exactly one free week before I head back to school for senior year after working a full time internship all summer and thought this would be a fun day since we’ve both been so busy all summer.
I feel like this is the perfect example of the lack of effort/support he shows towards me. If the roles were reversed, I’d be flattered that he asked me to tag along and thought of me. His answer to a lot of plans lately has been “maybe” and I have no idea why.
Is it shitty that that was his reaction? Do I have a right to be angry? Is this a sign of deeper issues?
