is it safe to have sex when not on birth control if we use a condom? what usually causes them to break and how often do they break?

Answer

It's never a 100% safe, but if you are worried about getting pregnant condoms are a good protection as long as it used correctly and with a safe lube (one that doesn't break or weaken the condom). If you are worried about STD's then it is the only form of contraception that will protect against it.

Condoms are like 98% effective.. you should be fine but it's always a good idea to be on bc as well as using condoms to protect against pregnancy(bc& condoms) and std's(condoms.. since bc doesn't protect against std's).
