Breastfeeding & Pregnancy?

I’ve heard breastfeeding can prevent you from getting pregnant.  For those of you who have been pregnant more than once, how many months into breastfeeding did it take you before you were pregnant?  My husband and I are totally open to getting pregnant again and our son is 8 months old today.

My son is 21 months old. I brestfeed on demand day and night since we sleep in the same bed. I'm 11 weeks pregnant. It took us 5 long cycles since I got my period back when he was 11 months old. But I don't think I would have gotten pregnant if it wasn't for some supplements.

My son is 16 months old. We are still breastfeeding on demand. And I am 11 weeks pregnant :)

15 mos. I weaned my son at 22 mos and I was 24 weeks

I got pregnant on my second cycle postpartum which was when my daughter was 15 months old :) We weren't preventing at all and breastfeeding did delay my cycle and fertility returning until then. Some women get it back earlier and some later :)

I got my periods back at exactly 8 months pp then got pregnant again on my second cycle.
Breastfeeding to preventing pregnancy only works in the first 6 months following the LAM guidelines.

I got my period 6 weeks after a twin pregnancy while breastfeeding twins. I probably could have gotten pregnant then. I used birth control so I don’t know.

I've breastfed my son for the last 19 months and only 2 months ago started ovulating again and finally had a period. We're currently trying for #2 but without weaning my son as much as I have I wouldn't have started ovulating again.
