Should I wake my newborn to eat???

My baby is 3 weeks & 3 days old and hasn’t nursed in almost 3 hours, do I need to wake him up to eat????

I was told if baby is at or above their birth weight you dont need to wake them up every 3 hours and to let them wake up on their own. If not up to birth weight, yes, wake them up.

Personally I wouldnt ... they will wake up when they are hungry to eat .. unless you notice it keeps happening over and over and they aren't eating enough. But it's normal for them to go on a longer stretch sometimes. My son went 7 hours without eating I kept trying to wake him up and he wouldnt wake up but once he woke up he made up for the time he slept. Just have to make sure they eat enough even if they sleep a bit longer in between feeds

I had to bc my babe has been struggling to get his weight on, just not as fast as doc wants. But, for the most part he wakes every 2-3 hours.

During the day yes, at night I'd push it to 4 or 5 hrs.

They can go 4 hours under average circumstances. My son gets a bottle (ebf) at night so I know for a fact that he’s getting his four ounces, so he can go up to 5 hours no problem.

In the newborn course my husband and I took, we were taught to always feed baby every 3 hours even if that means having to wake them from a nap, so I would. But during the night I didn’t unless baby woke me to eat.

My baby as a newborn would eat every 3 hours, during the night if your baby is starting like a sleep schedule I wouldn’t wake him up, my daughter started to sleep longer hours at night and she was that tiny. I remember asking her pediatrician about waking her up and she told me that she’ll wake up whenever she’s hungry! Hopefully this helps a little (:
