Pull-ups And Potty Training
My son just turned two a few weeks ago. We aren’t aggressively potty training, but we have a potty and a toilet seat for our little guy and try to sit him on it at least once a day. He has zero interest, he shakes his head no and tries to get up. I’ve spent countless hours googling potty training readiness and I just don’t think he’s ready, so we aren’t pushing it.
He’s a pretty big guy (33lb, 36”) and is very difficult to manage on the changing table, he often hurts himself by hitting his legs on the frame around the changing pad. I’m considering switching to pull-ups and teaching him how to get changed standing up. I’ve heard that pull-ups are not good for potty training, so I don’t want to hinder anything in that regard.
We bought some 2T-3T training pants (Target brand pull-ups) and tried them over the weekend. They are too small, definitely need a bigger size, but they didn’t seem to bother him. He thought it was hilarious stepping into them though and he fell to the floor in a fit of hysterical laughter 🤦🏼♀️ so if we proceed with this we really have some work to do.
Does anyone have any experience with switching to pull-ups or have any advice from being in a similar situation? Many thanks!
