Fasting numbers??

Question

Hey ladies! I just had a question when do you all take your fasting blood sugar ? Is it the second you wake up or do you all wait a little . This morning i took it the minute I got up at it was 115 then i took it again 30 minutes later and it was 100. My doctor wants the fasting number under 100 . My after eating numbers are great but these fasting numbers are driving me crazy!!! Any help would be great!

I drink plenty of water and don’t eat anything before bed, It’s always best to consult with your doctor.

Depending on how early I wake up changes when I take it. If I get up at around 6 then I typically lie in bed for about an hour. If I wake up after 7 then I’ll take it pretty quickly. I was curious if it made a difference and I can’t seem to tell. My numbers tend to be better if I don’t have a night snack. But if I need something my endocrinologist told me I could eat protein. Haven’t found a palatable protein snack for night though.

As long as it is 8-10 hours after you last ate that is your fasting number

You are suppose to check your blood right when you wake up... Also if your numbers are higher than 90 that means your body needs extra help to bring those numbers down. Such as insulin shots ! We are all suppose to have 3 meals and 3 snacks inbetween. The last snack should be right before bed. So sometimes eating something with high carbs can trigger your blood sugar. Try Eating something with less carbs if its still high than consult your doctor.

I have the same problem. My dr wants it under 90 which has been so hard for me 😫 I’m diet controlled but also on metformin twice a day so I guess that’s why my endo thinks my fasting should be under 90. It’s been consistently 90-mid 90s up until a couple days ago when it shot up to the low 100s. Now I can’t seem to get it below 100 😫😫😫 my ob doesn’t want me on insulin if I can keep my numbers in the 90s since baby’s growth has been on track. But now that it’s been on the low 100s I’m stressing.

Do it as soon as you wake up then have your meal. Fasting seems to be the trickiest to control, even if you’re doing every right. If it’s constantly elevated they may start you on something. My after meal numbers are all great like you, but fasting has been high so I’m now on insulin just at night for fasting coverage. Good luck!

I’ve varied mine and it doesn’t seem to make a big difference. I just wanted to say I’m struggling with that fasting number too. My dr wants it under 95, and I’m consistently around 100-115. 😭
