I just can’t get over it! Birth story

Brittany

My little one is just too much and I can’t sleep so I’m going to share her birth story!

I was induced 8/8 as I was on heparin (blood thinners). She was due 8/10. My cervix was totally hard and closed at my last appointment, which was Monday. My doc told me that I had a 30/60 chance of a successful induction since my cervix wasn’t favorable. We went ahead and decided to try induction and I started cytotec at 5 am. It caused intense, large, regular contractions. Contractions do NOT feel like period cramps to me but rather immense tightening. They took my breathe away. We did cytotec for 10 hours with no cervical change. I wasn’t even soft! My doctor called me and basicslly asked what I wanted to do. He said if we kept it up, I likely wouldn’t have her til Friday afternoon (😵), if at all. I decided to do a c section because I didn’t want to stress baby.

They wheeled me back and did my spinal. I was numb all the way down and did t feel anything during surgery except for when they took my uterus out. I felt like a giant was sitting on my chest. So uncomfortable. She came out and I didn’t hear her cry (OR rooms are really noisy lol) but she did and I was so teary. They did some tests on her and gave her back to daddy so we could do skin to skin. She was 9 lbs 9 oz and 20.5 in. My doctor told me that her head was large and she would have likely gotten stuck due to positioning. I made the right choice. The rush of hormones wasn’t immediate for me and didn’t start til Friday morning. So just know that all births are different and you aren’t weird if it takes you a minute to bond or figure it out.

She has a ton of hair and is the most chill baby ever. She loves everything. She had s really hard latch so my nipples are raw so we are taking nursing day by day. I am still very sore from my c section but every time I look at her I forget about it. Good luck August mommas and congrats to everyone who had had their baby!
