How long for HCG to drop?

Hi,
So after my MMC (2nd MMC and 6th loss including an ectopic) and a D&C a week ago, I’m wondering how long it should take to get a bfn on a pregnancy test? I can’t remember with my last D&C.

It was over a week after my miscarriage that I had my levels tested and they measured at a 7, doctor said the cut off is 5 and made me start birth control she said those last few points sometimes take awhile and that birth control would help. Those last few hcg quantities would still cause a positive I’m sure but I haven’t tested again.
