Are you off on the weekends? If so I would stay home with him then instead of letting him go with your mother in law. Being a sahm is a big commitment and it's hard decision. Does your husband make enough to support a family on a single income? Are you ready to stay home all day everyday with a child? There's a lot that goes into it.

I wouldnt say quit, I would say you and mother in law need to set rules in place and have them agreed but comprimise to take your mother in laws views into consideration too.
If it is possible you could compress your hours so for example work 40 hours over 4 days instead of 5

For me personally, it was very important that I stay home with my son because I want to be the main person helping him develop & grow.

I am having this debate in my head almost daily. My baby boy is due Nov 7th and I work a job where my schedule is great if I don't get forced out for overtime, but our company has cut back on people so much that there is almost no way to avoid being forced to work the overtime. I work 12 hr shifts and I get a week off a month if I'm not forced for overtime. I already know that I won't retire from my current place of employment but it pays very well so I can't leave until my boyfriend has a job that pays decent enough that I can afford to take at least a pay cut for another job. It kind of depresses me knowing that I am unable to be the full time mom that I would like to be during my son's first few years at least.

If it was an 100% quit my job to be with my daughter. The only reason I don’t is because we can’t afford it. It breaks my heart every single day when I leave her to go to work.

I was in this position. My boss then started sexually harassing me and after I found out I'm pregnant he told me to "just abort it". It was then that I knew the right decision for me. I quit and have been at home with my daughter since.
