Topic for the Dads #1 Nursery Painting

Armando

If you are like me, you have noticed that this app seems to be more geared to the moms-to-be (congratulations by the way!) I am interested in getting more content here for the dad-to-be. So this is 1 of several I'll be posting and hope to see the fellas out there join in.

Since I have found out about the pregnancy, I have felt a sudden urge to get the house work that has been on my to-do list for a while; a feeling of "getting the nest ready," so to speak. You may also have a to-do list of your own.

An item on this list is also one of the funnest, painting the baby's room. Once the color is chosen, which mom-to-be has the final say in by the way, then you are ready to get to painting. But, can any type of paint be used? Will some paints be harmful to a newborn? While doing some research, I ran across the following article: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2009/03/eco-friendly-nursery-how-and-when-to-paint-baby-s-room/index.htm

The article states to "paint the nursery at least two months before your baby arrives." According to the article, use low volatile organic compounds (labeled as low-VOC or zero VOCs.) Most paint will have high VOCs and can be irritating to the baby and mom-to-be.

We decided on a Dr. Seuss theme and will post some pics soon. Feel free to share your nursery painting as well.
