Birth of a Preemie

On July 8th of 2019 I was 35 weeks pregnant and I had what nurses believed was Braxton hicks and was at 0.5cm. They sent me home. The next day I had horrible contractions and went to my ob doctor due to the pain. The clinic laughed at me because I was still not full term and because they thought it was just Braxton hicks. Found out that i was at 3cm with a bulging water sac.At the hospital there was no change and was sent home. I stayed at 3cm for a good 2-3 days. On July 12 I went to my regular scheduled doctor's appointment and found out I was 5cm. I went to the hospital and attempted an epidural. Too painful so I went drug free. Shortly after I was 8cm with a broken water. Being 36 weeks pregnant I was very scared. As the nurses rushed in they prepped me. I started pushing and screaming. Which I was told not to do either of those. As I screamed at several nurses 23 minutes after my water had broken my 4lb 11oz 1 month early baby son was born. The nurse hovered him over me and was not able to really get a good look at him and I really just wanted to hold him which I did not get to do until 2 hours later. He stayed in the NICU for what felt like a very long week.

Congratulations. Glad you are both okay. I never understand why people in these jobs laughs at women who say they are contracting? What is the point in making someone feel bad when they are clearly telling the truth and asking for help?

Congrats on your baby. He is considered a late preterm. He would be full term at 37 weeks. I’m sure they are just making sure he keeps his sugars up and temp. Other than that 36 weekers do good!!
