Me v Husband and In-laws
I’d love to hear from other people here who feel like their partner doesn’t always understand that as as a husband, your number one priority and loyalty should be to your wife and no longer to your family. I feel like my husband is guilt tripped to pander to his family and despite us getting married nearly 3 years ago, I feel like his parents can’t let go and still want to maintain the same traditions and exert dominance over him (and in turn me). I feel like they really dislike the fact that I don’t always say yes to what they want and try to stand up to them, and I think my husband resents the fact that I tend to ‘rock the boat’ by not always doing what they want, how they want etc. I’m not saying I’m expecting my husband to not have relationships with his family, but I’d like him to realise that he’s not exclusively responsible for his parents happiness and wish he had more of a backbone when it comes to dealing with them. However, anytime I bring this up he gets so defensive😩
