Anyone else can’t afford to start baby food ?

My kiddo has been formula only because the only way I can feed him is with what WIC gives me, at his next appt hes supposed to get checks for baby food so we will finally get to try stuff but I feel like a terrible mom watching you all get to purée your own or doing BLW because you’re finances allow it. 
My so makes too much for us to get EBT, and for he and I to have state insurance, but the baby had dtateand so he gets wic . My so and I basicly live of sandwiches cereal and $5 pizzas once a day* edit to clarify , we only eat maybe once a day sometimes once every day and a half* . I’m doing the best I can but I still feel terrible because some of y’all post about the pettiest stuff. 
Maybe humble yourselves a little ? 
At least yourenot struggling to feed your family

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I couldn’t even imagine, and it definitely makes me appreciate what I have even more. 
That being said, please don’t come on here attacking other people for posting about our own problems. Everyone’s parenting journey is different and this app is MEANT for people to get advice from other parents. This post could have done without that part. 
I really wish you the best of luck, and like someone else on here said, don’t feel like you’re failing your baby. Solids aren’t meant to be a main source of nutrition at this age. I’m not sure if it’s an option for you, but try to reach out to your baby’s pediatrician and see if they’re aware of any organizations that can help you.

It is so cheap and easy to puree your own. If you can afford to feed yourselves you damn sure can afford to feed your baby. Buy some fruits and veggies for a few bucks, puree them with some water, and freeze them in ice trays. A few bucks can easily make days/weeks worth of baby food when they're just being introduced. You could literally go spend $.50 on an apple and have days worth of baby food. A carrot will make enough for days. A $.50 can of peas will make days worth.

My problem with this post is you don’t know what anybody else is struggling with.. we can post all day making our lives look perfect it means nothing you have no idea if these people are buying there own food or getting donations or anything else so don’t tell us to humble ourselves if you don’t like what we post don’t look at it everyone struggles

Go to the food pantries or churches in your area they will help with diapers as well as food! Everyone is struggling somehow just dont be afraid to seek help from your community. The food pantries usually have a ton of things fresh to frozen in my area.

Im also on WIC and you should be getting more then formula, like bread , $ for veggies, beans, pb, eggs, tuna, ect. You can make a lot of meals with just that.
Were you offered farmers market checks? It  probably depends on state but in Ny I was given $20 now and $20 later worth of coupons to use at local farmers markets. I just did that today and steamed up some squash and broccoli, and put them in a blender then freeze in icecube trays and tada! Two new foods for him to try thats last a week plus extra veggies for mommy.

Growing up my family was very poor, we ate beans, rice, lentils, soups, pasta, homemade corn tortillas (just add water to the flour no other ingredients needed), fruit and veggies, quesadillas, and meals with ground beef. I know microwaveable food is easy to make, but spending 5 bucks on pizza is enough for better meals that you can cook at home. Just need to be a little more creative. 1lb of rice is 85 cents, beans/lentils cost about the same and add 1lb of ground beef is 3 to 4 dollars. You'll have left over rice and beans as well for the next meal. Then you just need to buy the protein and you have money left for the baby's fruit.

Not making any assumptions nor am I judging you in any way, but if you’d like, you can always opt for $1 baby food jars in the stores. I live in NY and I can get a jar of organic baby food for a little over $1 at my local supermarkets and target. Your baby can have a few tastes here and there whenever you think they’d like to try something else other than milk. That is, if you can afford to. And even so, milk is more important than food at this age anyways.

He doesn’t need baby food right now and waiting until his next doctor appointment to start it is no big deal.  A lot of moms exclusively breast feed an entire year and don’t introduce any purées or foods until after that.  Think about the kids in developing countries.  They strictly drink breast milk as long as possible, well into toddler years, because there isn’t enough food for them.  It’s not a big deal to wait to start baby food.  I would cut out $5.00 pizzas and spend that money on fresh veggies and fruit.  You can get a lot of produce for $5.00.  You can feed baby those veggies and fruits steamed and/or mashed as well.
