How Do You Judge Your CM?

I’m trying to take note of my cervical mucus each day to get a better grasp on my cycle. My question is, do you judge your cervical mucus by what’s in your underwear or your vagina? My underwear is dry, by the cm in my vagina is very wet & sticky.

What’s in there. I judge the heaviness based on what’s in my underwear though. So if I’m particularly dry in my underwear, I gauge it differently then if I’m getting a lot of CM like before I ovulate.
