How to get baby to sleep in bassinet?

Tonight is our first night home from the hospital and the baby will not sleep in his bassinet. The second I lay him in it he starts screaming. But he will lay in bed with my husband and I and not make a peep. I don’t like the idea of cosleeping in the same bed so my husband and I are taking turns watching him while the other sleeps. Any tips on how to get him to sleep in the bassinet? It’s right next to the bed.

My son wouldnt sleep in his bassinet either. He would sleep in his crib though, we put his crib in our room so he was still close to me.

This is exactly what happened to us, and I had an emergency c section, so I didn’t have the energy to try to make him sleep in his bed. He’s 2 months old and we co sleep every night. Look up the safe sleep seven to see how to safely co sleep. 
I’ve been using a side sleeping wedge, and I’m hoping to be able to put him in his bassinet with that soon. But if not it’s not a big deal. My best friend co slept until her baby was 4 months old then put the baby in a crib in her own room and it was fine.
