No one throwing a baby shower for me?

Question

I have one sister I am close with and she doesn’t want to help me with a baby shower. I feel really out of place asking my coworkers to help me with one, as I don’t have any close friends. Is it acceptable to throw one for myself? Should i just forget about it and share my registry on Facebook and call it good? We have bought most of the essentials ourselves already. What do you think? Any experiences to share? Thanks!!

I'm old fashioned (probably because I am old) so my personal belief is that it is rude to ask someone to throw you a shower, as is it to throw one for yourself. I am also not a fan of posting registries to social media. I am in a similar situation, but realize that it is mine and my husband's job to provide for our kids.
I do understand and respect that trends are different now and it is becoming more common for people to ask for gifts and throw their own showers. I have happily attending the ones I have been invited to, but would never do it myself.

Don’t post it to Facebook. That is totally screaming “buy me stuff”. While a shower is often held as an event for gifts, it should be a celebration of future life and not just some food for people who bring presents.

I threw myself my own baby shower because I don’t have the family to throw one for me & it was a great turn out. If u can afford to throw something small for urself u definitely should plus u get to decorate how u would like it lol plus side 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m sorry your sister won’t help you! I personally would throw it myself before simply posting the registry on Facebook. If you already have the essentials you could also just do a sip and see type of party after the baby is born! Or a baby-Q! Those can be really fun!

I'm on the same boat. I have 4 sisters, one who just had a baby, and I know they dont want to help throw one, which is totally fine I understand completely. I'm going to try and just do a small get together with our families, like literally small with just treats and drinks. I think it would be nice for just a semi short and sweet get together so family can see and celebrate baby bump. Oh! Also I'm just going to create a facebook invite and invite people that way
