Can anyone proof read my short essay and help me find grammar errors
The best advice I’ve received
Stepping out of your comfort zone is never easy. There’s something about venturing into unchartered territory that can overwhelm even the strongest of people.
For the first ten years of my dating life I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I knew exactly what type of men I was attracted to. They had to stand about 5”6, have an athletic build, and a strong outgoing and masculine personality to match. Those were the qualities I liked, and I wasn’t willing to change.
In December of 2017 I met a nice guy. He was the complete opposite of what I was used to, so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pursue a relationship him. I showed a picture of him to my bestfriend, along with our message thread so that she could do what she does best, analyze every guy I date and then tell me if they’re worthy of her bestfriend’s love. Shockingly, she approved. “Hmm he actually seems like a well rounded guy. You should really consider trying something new. I mean you’ve dated assholes for how many years? It’s not working out for you. This guy seems like a genuinely nice guy, and that’s what you and your son need.” she said as she scrolled through our messages. With her always being the one that’s always right, I decided to listen.
My bestfriend has always been good at pushing me to take risks. Without her I wouldn’t have met my soon to be husband, I wouldn’t have my beautiful 9 month old daughter, and I would’ve been to afraid to date someone with unfamiliar traits. I was wasting my time searching for someone masculine, athletic, and outgoing, while my Prince Charming is someone gentle, corky, shy, and has never played sports. I took my bestfriend’s advice to try something new, and I have never regretted it.
