Is it safe to be prescribed Zofran for nauseau at the 6 week mark?

I’ve heard that taking this medication can cause cleft
palate and heart defects but would love to get insight from those who have taken it (if any). Thanks a bunch~

You have to outweigh the risks vs. benefits with your doctor. I've been on Zofran since I was 6 weeks as I have severe Hyperemesis and my baby and I would not be alive without it. Obviously if you can avoid it, that's best, although for some like me, there's no choice.

I was prescribed it. I personally (after doing research) chose not to take it. I didn’t want to risk it.

My ob wouldnt prescribe zofran until after 10 weeks. She gave me low does phenargen to take as needed instead.

I wouldn't risk it. I refused the meds they give for nausea because of the risks. I know a girl who took zofran and she thinks it caused the minor heart issues her daughter had

Haven’t taken it. Obgyn suggested if I absolutely needed it then he could prescribe it to me but he did information me that it is indeed true it can cause heart defects and clef lip he advised against it but left me the final choice. I chose absolutely not. I rather be puking every day of my life then risk harming my baby. In fact the only thing I did and would take during pregnancy was maloxx( heartburn medicine) because I was terrified to take anything else.
